Anti-SLA ELISA New regulation of sales rights!
Autoimmune hepatitis (AIH) is an idiopathic chronic hepatic inflammation. The disease is amongst others characterized by the occurrence of autoantibodies. Besides nuclear antibodies (ANA) and antibodies against smooth muscle cells (ASMA), which also appear in association with other diseases, specific antibodies securing the diagnosis of AIH can be found. An important autoantibody is directed against soluble liver antigen (SLA). In 2000 a protein presumably associated with an UGA-suppressor tRNA was identified as the target antigen. Approximately 30 % of AIH patients have SLA autoantibodies, which are practically not found in other diseases. In many patients SLA antibodies are the only serological marker, therefore constituting the only possible way to diagnose AIH.
Generic Assays owns the sales rights for tests with SLA determination.
