Anti-GP2 IgG / Anti-GP2 IgA

Chronic inflammatory bowel diseases characterized by unclear etiology, and chronic, recurrent inflammatory processes.

The differerentiation of these bowel diseases from other diseases of the digestive tract, as well as the differential diagnosis of Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis remain a clinical challenge.

Autoantibodies of the exocrine pancrease (PAB) have been identified as a specific serological marker for Crohn’s disease.

Glycoprotein 2 (GP2), a membrane-bound protein of the pancreas, could be identified as the major target antigen of these antibodies. Together with other circulating autoantibodies (ASCA, aANCA), PABs against GP2 can be employed for the differential diagnosis of Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis.

Anti-GP2 is an enzyme immunoassay for the quantitive determination of IgA or IgA antibodies against glycoprotein 2 in human serum, for the diagnosis of Crohn’s disease. The diagnostic sensitivity is 27.8 % (IgG) and 13.9 % (IgA). The diagnostic specificity is 96.7 % (IgG) and 100 % (IgA). The values of intra- and interassay precision for both tests are in the range of 2 - 8 % (coefficient of variation).

With anti-GP2 IgA / IgA, 96 determinations can be made within 105 minutes, which can then be evaluated semi-quantitatively using a microplate photometer.

The kit is designed for both manual processing, or processing with an automated ELISA System.
